Abdo Aba Mecha’s 30-hectare estate in Jimma, Ethiopia, sits at 1,900–2,100 metres, ideal for growing 74110 variety coffee. Ripe cherries are selected, depulped, washed, and shade-rested before drying on raised beds for 14 days to 10.5–11% moisture.

He inherited a 30-hectare estate in the picturesque Illbu Kebele within the Gomma Woreda from his father. This inheritance wasn't just a piece of land; it was a legacy of traditional Ethiopian coffee farming, knowledge, and techniques passed down through generations. Abdo's commitment to excellence and quality is a testament to his respect for this legacy and his desire to make a mark in the coffee industry.

The 74110 coffee varietal, developed in Ethiopia, is known for its vibrant, floral, and citrusy flavour profile, often with notes of jasmine, bergamot, and stone fruit. It thrives at high altitudes and is best used for specialty single-origin coffees, highlighting its complex, bright, and aromatic qualities.

Washed

During the wash method, the outer skin and pulp of the coffee cherry is removed through depulping, leaving behind the mucilage-covered beans. The beans are then fermented to remove the mucilage before being washed and dried.
