The Masha Station is a coffee cherry collection site located in Kayanza, Burundi's northern province that borders neighbouring Rwanda. The washing station acts as a central delivery site for a few thousand small holder famers who occupy the hills surrounding Masha.
Cherries are handpicked and sorted then laid out to dry on raised beds to dry. The coffee is covered at night and during adverse weather and turned regularly until the ideal moisture content is achieved. Parchment is then sent to the dry mill to be milled and then exported.
